SVSYF was established in the early 90s to enable senior staff from voluntary youth work projects to share information and access support. A planning event held in July 2001 brought together youth work providers to look at the development of an umbrella organisation. This resulted in the establishment of SVSYF as a constituted organisation with charitable status.
